Separate preparation before cooking
Prepare vegetables, tofu or vegetarian patties on a clean board with clean tools. Check the actual ingredients in marinades and ready-made sauces. Fish sauce, gelatin, milk ingredients or other less obvious components may conflict with a guest's needs. Ask when uncertain instead of describing a dish as suitable merely because its visible ingredients are vegetables.
Set aside separate bowls and serving plates with a simple way to distinguish them. Dedicated tongs help only if they remain dedicated. During rapid turning it is easy to grab the meat tongs by mistake; a different handle or fixed resting spot can reduce confusion. These cues support attention but do not replace it.
A clean zone is more than an empty space
Clean the intended cooking area and consider a compatible separate plate or basket where useful. Accessories must fit the grill without obstructing its airflow or grease drainage. Do not position vegetarian food beneath raw meat that can drip onto it. Keep transport from refrigerator to grill separate as well, rather than carrying everything on one crowded tray.
Cooking the vegetarian batch first and serving it promptly may simplify the arrangement. Do not leave finished portions for a long time in an uncontrolled lukewarm corner. When everyone needs to eat simultaneously, a dedicated compatible cooking surface can be easier to manage. A modest planned menu creates fewer crossings between ingredients and utensils than many last-minute variations.
Treat allergy requests separately
A shared grill cannot reliably be declared allergen-free merely after a quick wipe. For a serious allergy, discuss the required separate equipment and preparation with the affected guest. Do not promise a level of protection that your setup cannot provide. A meal prepared separately in the kitchen may be a better arrangement than attempting uncertain segregation on the same cooker.
Maintain the agreement when serving, including shared spoons, bread baskets and sauce jars. Careful work at the grill achieves little if one spoon then travels through every side dish. Ask a specific question when necessary and keep the separation all the way to the plate. Respect is demonstrated by a clear, consistent process rather than a broad assurance that everything should be fine.
Use grilling equipment only in its intended location and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Timing is not a substitute for checking doneness.
